I would very much appreciate it if anyone wants to spend a couple of minutes of their time to take a look at it. Thank you. I hope the video shows how happy he was and wasn’t just another ‘bird in a cage’.

As some of you gathered from my last journal, I’m very sad to say that I’ve lost one of my closest friends.

It was very unexpected, he was looking a bit lethargic Tuesday morning and sometimes not perching properly so I took a day off work and took him to a vet that specialises in birds.

When he got to the vets he got worse. His head was tilted up, he wanted to open his feet to grip onto the perch and me, but it was like he had forgotten how to. I left him there for the vet to continue treating. I would like to thank him for the extent he went to to try and save Zell; he is a very caring person.

Soon after I left the vets, Zell died of Lorikeet Paralysis Syndrome. The vet said I looked after him very well; instead someone would have brought the disease inside on their clothes from another lorikeet. Birds that have it tend to die within the first 24-48 hours and there is no treatment for it.

If he could understand me, I just want to thank him so much for everything he has done for me. He helped me with my mental stuff so much it was incredible. He helped me have the courage to step outside and live a normal life. He gave me so many laughs, gave me cuddles and kisses when I was sad and showed me so much love.
In the three short years he’s been on this Earth, he showed me more about birds than I had known from the previous 9 years I had owning them.

Thank you so much for giving me the privilege to know you. I am so sorry you left so early. There was so much more time I wanted to spend with you.
